Mother’s Day…

… is just around the corner and here at Marshall’s on the Green we have been busy creating our menu to mark the occasion. Why not show your mothers how grateful you are to them for everything they do by treating them to lunch at Marshall’s on the Green. With succulent lamb and tender beef on the menu, you’ll be spoilt for choice, mums will even receive a glass of prosecco.

In the UK, Mothering Sunday is celebrated on the fourth Sunday of lent, and originally it was a day where people would visit their “mother church”, being the church in which they were baptised or the local parish church. By 1935 however, those who acknowledged the day had decreased. During WW11 the Americans and Canadians celebrated Mother’s Day (different to Mothering Sunday), and felt the need to give thanks to their mothers whilst away at war. The British joined in with the celebrations and since then Mother’s Day has been celebrated every year and has become a day of thanks to mums everywhere.

Our mums, the people who raise us, cook our meals and make sure we’re clean. Yet, they are so much more than that. They are our best friends, our teachers, our superheroes, our confidants, our home.

Mums come in all shapes, sizes and forms and aren’t just those who bring us in to the world. They are our grandmothers who are the matriarchs of the family, they are our aunts who help us laugh through the tears, our step-mums who teach us that bonds are more than blood and those mums who step in when we have no one else.

To help you say thank you to those you love, we have teamed up with Bournemouth florist, Flowers at 166, and are giving you the chance to win your mother a beautiful bouquet of flowers simply by booking a table with us!
